A prototype design was developed for homes within a cluster in El Refugio, Querétaro. The rocky terrain with a positive slope was used to split the distribution of the first level of the house into two half levels, avoiding additional excavation and enhancing the sense of spaciousness by maintaining a visual connection between them.
The social spaces are located on the ground floor, while the bedrooms are situated on the middle and upper levels, which allows for more efficient ventilation and lighting in each bedroom compared to having them all on the same level. A study is located on the entrance level, before ascending to the living room, dining room, and kitchen areas, providing greater privacy to this space compared to the other rooms in the house.
